The Juramidam Family

The history of the base hinários (Mestre and the Companions) and its subsequent differences from center to center goes back to the beginning, in the oral tradition of the doctrine, when the fraternity didn't have hinário books or recordings. After Mestre’s passage, in 1971, we also witness the natural dissidence's process and the formation of the first centers other than Alto Santo, where would remain the main families of the pioneers, along with Madrinha Peregrina. Percília Gomes da Silva (the caretaker of Mestre’s hinário and the witness of all doctrine’s hymns from the past) follows Padrinho Sebastião some time later, spending a few years in his community, but she leaves to never settle again in a center. With her disconnection we have today the Alto Santo way of singing it (similar to the annotations of Percília), the way of the followers that had Percília as their adviser untill her death, in 2004, and the way of Padrinho Sebastião, who founded the Cefluris in 1974, in the time of the Colônia 5 Mil.

Regarding Padrinho Sebastião's group, they were too far from Alto Santo, approximately six hours by foot, and when they arrived in the doctrine, in 1965, the base hinários were complete with the exception of Mestre's last hymns. So, they had a set of hundreds of hymns to know and learn at once, a fact that carried Padrinho Sebastião to institute in his community the repetition of some hymn’s stanzas. With that he sought to give a chance for his group to memorize it faster, singing along in the second repetition that was added to it. An example would be the hymn 84 of Mestre, IA GUIADO PELA LUA, where in the original hymn just the last two lines of each stanza are repeated. This fact does not occur in the posterior hinários, as his community had the time to learn as the new hymns were arriving.

Adding to it we have other versions made by musicians and researchers who crossed information with the elders and the official caretakers of these hinários in the attempt to assemble a final version. Thence this is the reason for The Juramidam Family site to don’t make available the base hinários with the purpose to be official or true to the original, leaving this so important task in the hands of the few ones dedicated to settle with a final recording to all.
